ArenaNet creates massively multiplayer games that are enjoyed by millions of players.  Guild Wars 2 is an upcoming MMORPG with innovative elements never before seen in the genre. Our vision is to revolutionize the world of online games, creating a world with stunning visual beauty and original gameplay to excite experienced and new gamers.

Existing MMORPGs are very closed worlds – you have to be in the game to see what’s going on, to interact with game systems.  One of our goals with GW2 is to build an extended experience that unifies the game with the web and mobile devices.

So far, we’ve built a live mobile map viewer, and a rich interactive calculator to help existing GW1 players learn about what rewards they can look forward to receiving in GW2 as a reward for accomplishments achieved in GW1.  These applications are just the tip of the iceberg in our charter to extend an MMORPG that has already earned the Best in Show Award of PAX 2010 and Gamescom's Best Online Game Award.

ArenaNet is searching for an exceptional web programmer to join our extended experience team.  You’ll be working on the analysis, architecture, design, and implementation of world-class web sites which tie deeply into our games.  You’ll create dynamic websites built on top of Javascript-based servers (similar to Node.JS), connecting the web directly into our game services.

Web Programmer Profile:

·         Deep understanding of modern web programming issues

·         Strong Javascript skills

·         Strong HTML and CSS skills

·         A passion for high performance, efficiency, and quick page loads.

·         3+ years of professional programming experience (not necessarily in the game industry)

We’re a programmer-driven organization and we place a very high emphasis on maintaining code quality.  You’ll work hand-in-hand with designers, artists, and other programming teams to create exciting new experiences for Guild Wars 2.
